About the Teachers

JIM DORINSKY graduated from The Ohio State University in 1989 with both a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and a Bachelor of Science in Audio Recording. There he studied under master teacher Dr. Rosemary Platt and internationally acclaimed concert pianist, Richard Tetley-Kardos. A recently discovered fun fact is that his piano teacher in high school, Paul Stouse, studied with Sergei Rachmaninoff, who happens to be Jim’s favorite composer!

Jim has been teaching private piano lessons full-time for over 32 years. He is a long time member of the National Federation of Music Clubs and has been serving as the treasure for OFMC (Ohio Federation of Music Clubs) the last several years.  When not teaching, he also enjoys handyman projects, sports, fishing, gardening and hanging out with our expanding family.

Our Story

Jim and Chris met at a drinking fountain outside the practice rooms in Weigel Hall at The Ohio State University's school of music in 1985. She complimented his solo performance of a Chopin Scherzo after a piano departmental recital one afternoon; caught off guard, he thanked her intriguingly and took note of this mysterious, never-before-seen piano major. Many ice cream dates, a wedding, four kids, 2 grand kids and many hundreds of students, here we are today. :-)
